“X-Mahana”, Africam Safari’s butterfly garden, shows you the great world of BUTTERFLIES, where you can see hundreds of butterflies worldwide flying freely. They are the second most numerous order (Lepidoptera) of the animal kingdom. Few species undergo such an interesting metamorphosis from a larval caterpillar stage and pupal stage into a beautiful flying invertebrate with unique colors.

“X-Mahana” has been built with special techniques and materials. Its cover is made of polycarbonate and the hallway is a reproduction of a Mayan ruin. The building has a 450 m2 surface and is 14 m high. Temperature and humidity are controlled to enable the reproduction of butterflies and plants. This is an important educational center about invertebrates, their stages and their relation to ecological balance.
