Native of the city of Acatzingo,
Puebla, he is a man with
multiple dreams and achievements.
He is an entrepreneur, radio
announcer, cinema producer,
aircraft pilot, Guiness Record
winner of air balloon flight,
racing boat pilot, and war
correspondent. He is a visionary
and endless sponsor of respect
and love for nature.
With an unquenchable thirst for
adventure, he traveled around
the world amazing at the flora
and fauna he found. Committed to
protecting nature, he dedicated
a lot of time in the creation of
a sanctuary where plants and
wild animals will find favorable
conditions to live happily.
Captain Carlos Camacho created
this Kingdom of Animals as a
private collection at home in
Valsequillo, Puebla. Seeing that
everyone who visited him shared
his admiration for those great
specimens, he realized that the
best way to raise green
awareness was making people fall
in love with animals through a
close and direct contact with
them. His main concern was
always the animals’ well-being,
and he deemed it essential to
create environments where
endangered animals could survive
and reproduce in conditions
similar to their natural
habitats.
Lately, advised by engineers,
vets, technicians and experts in
the field, he began to realize
the dream of his life, Africam
Safari. He named the park after
the AFRIcan continent and his
surname CAMacho.
At last his dream came true and
on April 2nd 1972, Africam
Safari opened his doors to the
public. On October 28th 1976 the
captain dies, but not his work.
With tenacity and courage, the
descendants of that great man
continued his project: his smart
and beloved wife, Louise Wardle
de Camacho, and after her death,
their eight children, who
inherited an endless respect and
admiration for nature.
