WHAT IS WATUSI WATOTO?

Derived from the African Suahili dialect, WATUSI means “warrior” and WATOTO means “child”; they are translated as “warrior child”.

WATUSI WATOTO is AFRICAM SAFARI’s camp. It is a “one of its kind” camp that offers unforgettable experiences for every age, promoting green awareness in a healthy environment and living closely the magic behind the scenes of the most important zoo in Latin America.

Today, after 30 years of operation, we have the best and most sophisticated American-type camp in Mexico with the necessary infrastructure and staff to receive campers any time of the year. Whether they are school groups, families, religious people or entrepreneurs, they will enjoy the bilingual and multicultural experience in full and real contact with the most exotic nature.

OUR MISSION

Sow a seed of love and respect for nature, promoting ecological education, recreation, creativity and physical, social and spiritual growth of children and adults, with quality facilities in a camp deep in the zoo.

THE CAMP

The camp is strategically located in the Africam Safari’s ecological reserve, the most important “safari-like” zoo park in Latin America, which allows us to offer activities not offered anywhere else, teaching love for the nature, and respect for and preservation of the environment.

Our facilities have comfortable “Cabin-like Shops” with bunk beds and bathrooms for you to feel at home.

At our breakfast room, campers can enjoy balanced, nutritional and generous food, as well as permanent access to fruits, healthy refreshments and unlimited drinks, all under the supervision of expert chefs and nutritionists.

THE ADVENTURE

With African mysticism campers will live a unique adventure participating in typical camping activities and getting to know the magical world of Africam Safari behind the scenes.

Adventure begins by being part of African tribes where campers, who identify with the African culture, its customs, lifestyle, rituals, outfit, etc., develop the great camping activities.

Children will be part of tribes made up of 10 Watotos (children), depending on sex and age, under the supervision of Washauris (advisers) who will take care of every tribe, ensuring its well-being and care during their stay at the camp.

Our WW staff is made up of Washauris (advisers). These are bilingual college students older than 21 with the experience and skill to give Watotos the best treatment, maximum security and absolute confidence, who have received summer camp training and first aid courses. In addition, we there is a doctor 24 hours a day and an external security group supervised by our Operational Manager and support staff that ensures maximum security to our Watotos.
 

Although Watusi Watoto has preestablished programs which meet various educational objectives, schools can participate in drawing up programs according to specific needs.

These activities take place in a safe environment without direct contact with exotic animals and under the strict supervision of the park advisers and staff. Tribes will be in charge of an animal from our stockyards (llamas, goats, ponies, etc.), which will promote a sense of responsibility during their stay.
