Zoos around the world receive millions of visitors each year. They have the opportunity and the responsibility to spread a conservation message among their guests through stimulating and challenging exhibits with valuable information about animals and their habitats.

Africam Safari’s conservation and educational messages are focused on values that lead to the development of respect, sustainable use and conservation of fauna, and flora ecosystems. We believe it is not enough to tell people that many of our actions negatively impact nature, we must present them with options that will benefit our world. Education and conservation messages are based on our Mission statement and on WAZA’s “World Zoo and Aquarium Conservation Strategy”.

All life is interrelated, and if one aspect is affected, the whole is affected. Recent changes in the planet’s climate and natural environment are related to human activities.

Modern societies have contributed to the non-sustainable use of natural resources. almost all over the planet. Deforestation, pollution, habitat modification for crops, cattle ranching, global warming, are the causes of dramatic modification to our natural environments.

Healthy ecosystems provide human beings with all the resources needed to sustain our way of life (oxygen, water, food, etc), products that make our life more bearable (medicines, wool, etc), and some to provide us with recreational opportunities.

Africam Safari focuses its actions and resources on the conservation of wildlife and the ecosystems they inhabit. Africam Safari strives to protect umbrella species. This means that by protecting one species the many species below it in the food chain are also protected.

Human beings depend on plants and animals for food, shelter, and recreation. Allowing plants and animals to become extinct is an action against ourselves. Africam provides its visitors with opportunities to help in the conservation of wild animals. There are actions that any person can take to help in the conservation of wildlife and its habitats.
